RESEARCH IN PROGRESS

Seributra, D. (in progress). Urban Renewal:  In an Unzoned Frontier.  The purpose of this project is to detail the overall analysis of urban revitalization in the Houston, TX area, especially in a city where zoning laws are nonexistent.  Field analysis from photographic evidence and applied research are integrated in a way that urban revitalization can transform a community over a long period of time, as well as the side effects that are common, which includes the plight of those living in poverty, existing residents, and gentrification, where real estate companies would purchase residental/commercial lots for redevelopment, rehabilitate existing properties, whether it is a house, commercial building, in a manner that the property is restored or demolished for newer developments like loft homes that sell for a profit in a value exceeding $250,000.

Seributra, D. (in progress). WestFest: Past, Present, and Future. The objective is to conduct field interviews with existing Westheimer Street Festival fans, relative to a turning point:  January 26, 2000.  This was the day when City of Houston - Department of Public Works assistant director George Bravenec refused to grant a street closure permit to John Florez, president of the Westheimer Street Festival Corporation.  During the field interviews, respondents stated that the Montrose District is the ideal location for WestFest, since geographic location is prudent to a Houston tradition for over 4 decades, dating back to 1971.
